Seeing the great welcome the Paranoia Team has been given
in Taiwan, and after checking on the map that, despite what
this government says, this country really exists, we have
the pleasure to review the latest release from the Taiwanese
band called Seraphim who we are so enormously fond of (let's
hope they remember the address where they can send the ham
and cava bottles).
"The Equal Spirit" is Seraphim's second studio release,
a record that should help their consolidation as a band in
a saturated metallic scene, and , according to what we can
see, they do not lack qualities to achieve just that.
So, now is when I have to transmit to you the style path this
Asian band's music follows in words, as well when I'll refer
to a couple of bands for you to use as reference and have
an approximate idea of what these Taiwan naturals sound like.
As regards their style, we could classify them as a sort of
melodic power metal wisely combined (we would prefer the cava
to be French, please) with operatic parts starred by the very
technical voice of Miss Pay. Seraphim could be the result
of combining Nightwish and Stratovarius after adding a guttural
voice that comes out from time to time.
Using these references, one can guess that the most important
part of the band is the technical level, since their originality
isn't actually breathtaking (alright, you can forget about
the cava; the ham will do just fine); thus, technically, we
have an impeccable band, with impressive and speedy guitar
solos, typical drums that offer a good result, and the great
voice of Miss Pay, as mentioned above.
A real Asian pearl to taste slowly, just like good cava (hmmm
).
