Following their brilliant
"Enlighten the Darkness" I thought they would offer us a record
with two or three good songs and a pretty mediocre rest... I
couldn't believe that they were capable of matching the quality
and power proven in their previous release... and they have
shown me that I am a man with a very weak faith...
Not only have they matched it in genius and power; they have exceeded themselves. And they have done so taking a step forward, since many bands, when they find their sound, stick to it, and many others try to go back and recover older and more glorious days... This is not the case of Angel Dust, since more than a step forward, they have actually stomped and kicked the ass of all those bands we were just talking about.
This "Of Human Bondage" achieves the perfect balance between songs following the style of their previous album (like "Inhuman" or "Unite") and songs that show a marked evolution, without losing their identity or power, mind you.
The creativity of these Germans, seeing how they insert the new elements in their music that make them take that step forward (guttural voices or choruses behind Thurisch's, different keyboard sounds according to each song, more electronic elements, etc...), in sum, elements that give their songs a distinctive touch without destroying Angel Dust's sound, is surprising... its like when a woman gets a breast operation and shows a great cleavage... it's the same woman, but more impressive and a real treat for the eyes... well this is the same, but with the music of five big Germans...
