An album by the viking Swedes Amon Amarth is usually bound to be a success. There is not a single disappointing album by them. Amon Amarth are one of the most (if not THE most) solid and heavy Viking Metal bands out there.
“Valhall Awaits Me” is the first blast in the album, followed by other highlights like “Asator”, “Cry Of The Black Birds” or “Gods Of War Arise”, and they are just as impressive and thunderous. On the other hand, “Under The Northern Star” may be the most melodic song ever created by the Swedish band.
Even if “With Oden On Our Side” is majestic, epic, and powerful, I wouldn’t say it is their best album, as with such a storming competence like “Fate Of Nornes”, “Versus The World”, “The Crusher”, or “Avenger”, that’s something really difficult to tell. Anyway, I could not choose a single one of them above others. As any mortal would have expected, I’ll just end saying this: may Odin and his might be on your side for ever, Amon Amarth.
