Agrypnie
Títle Exit (2008)
Label Supreme Chaos Records/Sure Shot Worx

The name of this band won’t probably ring any bells to anyone. Even after saying this is Torsten Hirsch’s project, many people will still ignore what we’re talking about. Torsten Hirsch is the ex-vocalist of Nocte Obducta. He once decided to create Agrypnie to put all his personal ideas into practice.
“Exit” is the second release by the man. Agrypnie is now a full-fledged band with professional musicians involved and stuff like a drum machine is not needed anymore.
What we find in this album is a thoughtful and balanced use of different elements –all of them related to black metal, that end up forming very interesting compositions. I’ll try to be a bit more specific. “Exit” is a very personal, melodic black metal album. However, melody is not the driving force, but a tool used to obtain certain results here and there.  There are also really harsh moments, as well as some atmospheric ones. All this variation is well implemented and nails the album as a whole.
“Exit” is a very good offer for those who perceive black metal as something open and rich. On the other hand, narrow-minded followers of the traditional thing are less likely to enjoy this release.
