Agonizer
Títle Cain the Slayer (2003) -demo-
Label Self Production

It's increasingly difficult to find bands with some clarity of musical ideas, that aren't willing to plagiarize any of the so misused mythical bands, and that don't want to base their sound on anything that has already been done and redone in order to quickly release a record in the market and sell it as soon as possible.

We received a demo from Finland (originally, with three songs, although a fourth has been added now) that has very pleasantly surprised us. I had never listened to a demo with such a clean and effective, direct, clear and concise sound, that doesn't beat around the bush, and basically says the following: "We can play music, here you have it". The musical level of every member of the band is very high, and sincere; the clearest expression of this honesty is expressed in the voice, that takes on a relatively constant tone in all the songs, without forcing it too much and abstaining from trying to sell what everyone is in to nowadays, that is, being the singer with the highest peaks in the history of metal. And the best part of it is that in "Whatever", for instance, that singer does show a bit of what he is holding inside.

The snag is that no record company has noticed them, which leads me to questioning myself if the people who call themselves professionals in the industry have any musical taste or whether today the only bet is on happy metal with as much softy elements as possible. I have no doubt that this band, with more money and means, could get to have a promising future in the metal scene, but someone has to back them financially, instead of wasting money on rubbish. They're worth it.
