It’s cool to see how sometimes rage becomes inspiring and productive. After Forever run away from the topics, and don’t want to follow the successful and easy paths taken by bands like Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation or Evanescense, offering us an interesting combination of gothic and strength. The result is an almost perfect album. I say “almost” only because I don’t believe in perfection.
After Forever have a whole lot of good reasons to say they are a great band: amazing opera vocals full of strength, musicians with infinite ways of playing music, and Floor Jansen, who is in a true state of grace.
Her voice has the quality and variety to fit in the overloaded music, and make everything sound just great. The opera moments mixed with the more aggressive ones sound so good that I’m really afraid that they may have reached their highest level. I hope I’m not right, but they are going to fight hard to make a better album. If inspiration was a disease, this band would be sick to death.
