We had been waiting for this "Invisible Circles" to
see the light for some time now, and we were anxious because
a release signed by After Forever is always a guarantee of quality.
Of course, and once again, we haven't been disappointed, on
the contrary. In their previous mini-cd "Exordium",
the Dutch band had experimented a little with sounds that differed
slightly from what their normal trends are, but in this "Invisible
Circles" they have recovered their most After Forever sound
with quite classic melodies represented in mid-tempo songs,
added to more aggressiveness on the guitars and vocals (with
an increasing participation of Sanders, with his scary guttural
cries). The pretty Floor Jansen delights us once more with her
vocal (as well as physical) beauty, this time without overdoing
it in the higher tones and singing at all times the feeling
the song should transmit in each of its passages.
Another innovation is the inclusion of one of the guitarists,
Bass Mass, as the third singer, doing the cleanest parts in
three songs (I'm still talking about the voice). In the third
track, "Between Love & Fire" we have the combination
of the three voices (Floor, Sanders and Bass), giving a result
which is spectacularly overwhelming.
"Invisible Circles" is a magnificent concept album
(with a musically impeccable result), based on the birth of
a baby girl who has to stand her parents fighting constantly
and who, when she grows, still has to live those nightmares,
although in this case she is the mother, thus closing the circle.
