Acheron
Títle Rebirth: Metamorphosing into Godhood (2004)
Label Black Lotus Records / Goimusic

The first impression we have when looking at the artwork of this "Rebirth: Metamorphosing into Godhood" is that the members of Acheron are people with deep religious convictions, since a major part of the symbols and musical concept of the band are based on just that, religion. This conceptual intention is also given expression to perfectly in the musical section, since what we find in this record is a furious American Death Metal base combined with constant touches of black metal and some riffs we could locate within the context of thrash metal with no trouble at all.
The record is presented with a first track serving as a perfect introduction to what we are in for later since, as the title of said intro says, it is an invocation of chaos, which evokes the conceptual aspect we were mentioning before.

The most outstanding element of this release is the great dynamism given off by each of the songs, since Acheron know how to play at an instrumental level with the style structure they live in. So, with no trouble at all, they move between dramatic blast beats, cutting and corrosive riffs, completely melodic parts, guitar solos made with care and love to the last note... In other words, what we are offered is a record to enjoy from the first note to the last, since the work done by Acheron on a compositional level deserves it.

What they could have avoided was the last track of the cd, where you listen to a high peak and penetrating metallic sound for almost nine minutes. This could be used to enter a sort of cataleptic condition in the ritual of some shaman, but, to tell the truth, it isn't what you are looking for when listening to an extreme metal record.
